AIPUT's specialist Perishables Handling Centre (PHC) at Heathrow is to feature at a prime-time slot in Episode 3 of BB2's 'Airport Live' at 8pm on Wednesday 19 June. This live series will give the general public a unique behind-the-scenes opportunity to see how airside operations are managed at the airport.

PHC is Europe's largest chilled airfreight handling centre at 70,000 sq ft (6,500 sq m), managing over 120,000 tonnes of imported and exported perishable goods. The warehouse facility provides an important function for the airport and the food retail market, providing a complete service from aircraft to shelf 24/7, 365 days a year. The two-floor specialist facility caters for a wide range of perishable items from exotic fruits to Scottish salmon to Kenyan flowers and supports a worldwide supply chain for the airlines and retailers.
