SWIP's (Scottish Widows Investment Partnership) Airport Industrial Property Unit Trust (AIPUT) - a specialist owner and manager of prime airport related industrial warehouses - and their esteemed customer dnata are today hosting a momentous 'Topping-out Ceremony'.

The 'Topping-out Ceremony' is an opportunity to celebrate the development of dnata City, the new premier cargo logistics centre at Heathrow Airport. Leading figures from across Heathrow airport, the global cargo and airline communities will be witnessing the substantial progress being made on the new logistics centre which is enhancing the off-airport cargo services and landscape at Heathrow.

This flagship development, which is scheduled to be completed in November 2013, marks a significant commitment and investment for both AIPUT and dnata. The partnership is investing £100m over the life of this ground-breaking cargo handling park to deliver industry-leading cargo warehouse solutions for global carriers at Heathrow.

dnata exchanged contracts with AIPUT in January 2013 to commit to the entire logistics park, and marks Heathrow's largest pre-let to a cargo and aviation related operator for over 12 years. AIPUT is to deliver dnata with 19,045 sq m (205,000 sq ft) of premium cargo handling facilities in three customised warehouse units.

Nick Smith, Manager of AIPUT, said:
"We are honoured to share this monumental opportunity with dnata and our guests in celebrating this landmark scheme. Our unified vision, cutting-edge innovation and substantial investment will support dnata in delivering world-class cargo solutions to their clients.

"We are excited by the scale of this project and the difference this epicentre of service-excellence will deliver for dnata and beyond. We are confident that this flagship cargo logistics centre will materially enhance dnata's service capabilities, and in turn strengthen Heathrow's position as an important international cargo hub.

The delivery of this scheme is testament to our scale, knowledge and deep understanding of the aviation and Real Estate markets. dnata City demonstrates our dedication to delivering exceptional customer service for dnata, whilst simultaneously delivering a quality investment for our investors."

AIPUT is pleased to be supported by a dynamic and experienced project team to deliver service-driven real estate solutions for our valued customer. The project and development manager for the build is Canmoor, who has detailed specialist knowledge of delivering strategic industrial warehouses. The leading contractor for the new cargo logistics centre is Winvic Construction, an industry leader in building major logistic warehouses across the UK and Heathrow.
