AIPUT completes 18,750 sq ft letting at its Heathrow South Cargo Centre

- Group

The Airport Industrial Property Unit Trust (AIPUT) has successfully completed a new letting with GE Aviation, a world leader of commercial jet engines and components, at their prime industrial estate, Heathrow South Cargo Centre.

GE Aviation, an established customer of AIPUT, has taken a long term commitment of two adjoining units totalling 18,750 sq ft to accommodate their on-wing support division which provides engineering support to complete specialist engine maintenance and upgrades covering a range of commercial aircraft. The estate’s 24/7 unrestricted access aligns their new facility to their specialist operational requirements and functions.

Furthermore the estate benefits from its strategic location and proximity to the airport and its core logistics areas of Heathrow.

With the neighbouring Unit 4 currently under offer, the terrace is to be fully let. The only remaining available unit at the estate is Unit 1, providing a prime 120,000 sq ft distribution facility, and is the largest available logistics warehouse at Heathrow.

Nick Smith, fund manager of AIPUT at SWIP Real Estate commented

We are pleased to support the growth of GE Aviation and their global service network, to provide a new Grade A facility which has been tailored to meet their specific operational needs. There has been an exciting evolution in the specialist engine support industry following developments in engine technology and airline contracts, and their new facility, with its easy access to Heathrow Airport and the wider communication network, will allow GE to provide a world-class rapid response service to their airline clients.

AIPUT was represented by Dowley Turner Real Estate, Jones Lang LaSalle and Eversheds.
