In 2022, Heathrow handled more than 62 million international passengers and 1.4 million tonnes of air cargo. With a third runway, this could rise to an estimated 90 million passengers and 3 million tonnes per year.

Heathrow is widely recognised as the UK’s largest port by value, processing approximately 20% of all UK trade (2022: £203 billion of goods travelled through Heathrow).
